First Father’s Day

Sometimes I can’t believe how amazingly creative and thoughtful my wife is. If you can’t tell, it’s a mini flip-book, with the three photos staying the same and the “cardboard cutouts” changing.

Fred Wilson wrote about being present today and it really resonated with me, as I embark on my first real “career”:
I attended an offsite of a larger private equity firm and there was a organizational psychologist who gave a talk on work life balance. He said something I’ll never forget. He said that you have about ten to twelve years to connect with your kids and then they turn into teenagers, tune you out, then turn into adults and build their own lives. I thought about my kids who were five, three, and a baby and realized that time was short and I needed to be present in their lives in every way that I could.
So, in case Carrie didn’t think I noticed (wink), I will leave Foursquare at home when we have brunch this morning.
