Learn CSS Positioning in Ten Steps
I’m sitting in Tryst, and Darrel from the show happens to pop-in. Mind you, I have no clue what Darrel looks like except that he’s black. He starts chatting up a couple of guys, who ask him how it’s going. He’s says the “radio thing” is going well. The minute 106.7 pops out of his mouth, I clue in. I used to listen to TPRS back when they were on evenings during the weekday. Now, I catch the show sporadically when I’m driving around during the day.
Anyway, he seemed like a cool guy, and went to go sit down with some friends from the bar. I have to admit, I like my current gig, but getting paid to make banter on the radio a couple of hours a day sounds pretty nice.
I’m in the process of updating the DCKSports software to support image uploads. At the moment, this is involving the laborious task of getting RMagick installed on my laptop. It isn’t simple, we’ll just leave it at that.
My thought is that I’ll initially let people upload thumbnail headshots of themselves. So, when you’re looking at your team’s roster (or another team’s roster) you can match up names with faces. If this feature is sufficiently popular, I might nickname it KDate.
My weekend was pretty entertaining. Split my March Madness on Friday night between Tom Tom and my buddy Peter’s apartment. Taurus was trying to take it easy that night (beer consumption-wise) and I made sure to let everyone know so that he might be given a hard time. I’m a great friend.
Saturday started-off with some Pho with Terri, Alyssa and Pete. We decided to go check out Thank You For Smoking in Georgetown, which turned-out to be a great idea. Hilarious movie, I highly recommend it. Saturday night involved high levels of wine and whiskey consumption, which caused me to promptly pass-out around midnight.
Sunday was one of the laziest days I’ve ever had. I spent the vast majority of the day on my neighbor’s couch, drinking chai tea and eating ice cream. The night was capped-off with dinner at my Dad’s (where I was berated multiple times by an octagenerian) and an excellent episode of the Soprano’s. I even conned Renner into coming by to hang out after her wild weekend in Miami (cough, of Ohio, cough).
Dan Pourhadi over at tuaw.com has been having issues with his MacBook Pro. He’s now on his second one.
I’d like to share my comments, as an owner of 1.83 GHz MacBook Pro.
Processor whine: I have the noise. It goes in and out, depending on what I’m doing. I think it goes away or diminishes when it’s unplugged. Honestly, it’s gotten to the point where I rarely notice the issue.
Other noises: None that I’m aware of.
Screen annoyances: None! No white strip. No differences in contrast across the screen.
That’s it. Not sure if I got a machine from the “good” batch, or if I’m simply not noticing these problems. Best of luck!
So, another bites the dust. Will Gomaa has finally popped the question and asked Neela to marry him. Against all odds, she said yes.
Jokes aside, I’m really happy and excited for the both of them. Congratulations you guys!
Oh, and don’t think I’m going to sleep on the bachelor party. It’s going to be awesome.
This stands for the Adams Morgan Ruby Users Group. I’ve been asked to stop by their next meeting this Sunday at 3pm and spend 10 minutes talking about my experiences building RoR apps for DCKickball. Should be interesting. I’ve never been much into the “user group” scene, which is odd because I consider myself to be a pretty social person.
