Curveball

Over the last couple of weeks, my dimming prospects for business school have come into sharp relief. In a 72-hour span I was denied admission to both UCLA (Anderson) and Berkeley (Haas). This was quite a punch to the guy, and officially terminated by chances of attending graduate school in California.

The two schools I have not heard back from are Harvard (HBS) and NYU (Stern). However, I have to infer from my results thus far that Harvard isn’t going to happen, and that NYU is probably a long shot.

This is a bitter pill to swallow, given that I was brimming with confidence only a few months ago. I’ll refrain from any more discussions about my business school applications until the final words are in, but suffice to say I have some real soul-searching ahead of me.

SO. It’s a good thing kickball is gearing up, right? My last day at Amentra will be Friday, Feb 17th. After that point I will be putting 100% of my time and energy into the Spring/Summer season of kickball. This year, I’ll be involved with multiple divisions of kickball in DC as well as a league in California! Pretty crazy, huh?

Besides which, DCKickball isn’t the only rebel DC kickball league on the block anymore. District Sports will be branching into outdoor kickball this spring. And a former WAKA division (DCKingdom, I think?) has started-up NAKID kickball. Competition, you say? Perhaps, but it’s welcome. Alternative (read: non-WAKA) is further legitimized the more people who are doing it.

Anyway, I’m excited and energized again! You know what you do when life gives you lemons? You play kickball! :)
