Introspection

Posted: January 15th, 2004 | Author: Carter Rabasa | Filed under: Uncategorized | Comments

I’m currently in the process of reading A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius. It’s a great book, and I’ll bore you with the details when I’m done. However, at the moment the moment the author is describing his experience participating in an interview for The Read World: San Francisco. Anyway, throughout the course of the interview, the “real” interview melts away, and instead the q/a becomes a hypnotic look into Egger’s background and mind. And, as often happens, I am disturbed by his (and other people’s) ability to dissect the nature of everyday lives and the motivations that drive us. Because they’re rarely flattering, and are often grotesque.

Why do I watch the Real World?

Eggers thinks he knows, and the answer makes me want to throw my TV through the window.

Gibbs To Coach Skins

ESPN.com is reporting that Joe Gibbs is returning to coach the Redskins. Before I work myself into too much of a hysterical lather, it’s important to note that this has not been confirmed publicly by the Redskins or Joe Gibbs. No press conference has been held. But if this is true, if this comes to pass, then it is the greatest Christmas present I could ever have gotten.

Update: It’s official

Falling Behind

It is tragic how out of step I am with the latest and greatest things these days. I used to live and die on the bleeding edge of things, but I now find myself clued-out of a range of exciting things:

This goes on and on….

A Year for a Leap?

Posted: January 5th, 2004 | Author: Carter Rabasa | Filed under: Uncategorized | Comments

Good bye 2003, hello 2004. A leap year, in fact. I don’t usually spend too much time thinking about what the new year holds. Usually more of the same. But I can’t help but think that this year will be a defining one for me. The confluence of so many things promises a great deal of excitement. For example:

Work: With a year under my belt as a consultant, I feel like I’m poised to create and deliver great things. Sort of like the “3rd year WR in the NFL” theory. I know my strengths, I’m cognizant of my weakness, and I’ve got a plan.

Graduate School: This is the year that I take the LSAT, and ultimately choose between business or law school. LSAT in June, decision by July/August, applications in by October.

Travel: I’m going to Singapore!

So, we’ll see how things pan out. I’m psyched.
