Next time someone labels me a music download pirate (are you listening RIAA??), I’ll just whip out my credit card bill which should have a $0.99 line item for the download of “Cortez the Killer” by Neil Young. How did I come to this purchase? By looking at the “celebrity” playlist set-up by Billy Corgan, of Smashing Pumpkin fame.
So, sure, I still have a couple hundred downloaded songs, but this is a promising start. I can’t wait to get home and stick this song on my iPod.
I just downloaded iTunes for Windows and have rediscovered something that I loved (and missed) so much about my old Mac. I had been limping by using Winamp, Windows Media Player, and various freeware ID3 tag editors.
I haven’t had a chance to install this on my home machine (where my main music collection lives) but I’ve played around enough of my laptop to feel confident that my entire Mp3 collection will be properly tagged and organized by the end of the weekend. Which is no small feat. If you’re a Windows user and you haven’t tried iTunes, you’ve got to check it out.
I might even buy a track or two from the on-line store, imagine that!
My two favorite shows are now on at the same time. Oh, cruel fate. How is one expected to choose between watching D.H. busting out of rehab clinics and Jack Bauer shooting up in his office (with cool electronically-controlled opaque windows!) at C.T.U. ?
Luckily, ESPN runs last week’s episode at 8pm, so as long as I’m willing to be a week behinds the times regarding Playmakers, I can catch 24 at 9pm. I guess that’s going to have to do, at least until I get a TIVO.
Does anyone else absolutely love the Playmakers theme song? I AM, the incredible man, I only do things incredible can, yes I AM…
I know I mentioned it, but how great was it to see Jack fight with the heroin monkey last night? And don’t gloss over that cool-ass South American tattoo. I feel like I missed out on season 2 1/2, and it’s killing me!
Do any women think Kim’s hair looked good? I think the cut sucked, and was purpotrated to make her look 3 years older. Any takers?
Elliot Smith is dead. I’m pretty stunned and incredibly saddened by the news. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed listening to his music, both in good times and bad. Does anyone know what happened? He was only 34…
This is unbelievable. Apparently, Gregg Easterbrook (TMQ) criticized his boss (Michael Eisner) and other Jewish entertainment executives for glorifying film violence. Here’s a quote:
Disney’s CEO, Michael Eisner, is Jewish; the chief of Miramax, Harvey Weinstein, is Jewish. Yes, there are plenty of Christian and other Hollywood executives who worship money above all else, promoting for profit the adulation of violence. Does that make it right for Jewish executives to worship money above all else, by promoting for profit the adulation of violence?
Since this post came out, he’s been fired from his TMQ gig at espn.com despite his apology.
This is outrageous! There is no way anyone who reads what he wrote could think that he is anti-semitic! Sure, he could have gotten his point across in a more succinct fashion, but this boils down to Eisner squashing someone who called him out as a sleazy movie exec.
If you have want to protest the firing of Gregg Easterbrook, please tell the editors of Page 2 how you feel, or comment here, and I’ll post it to them for you.
I hate that I don’t have more time to write about my trips. Maybe I’ll expand on this post later. Suffice to say, I was in Miami this past weekend for my cousin Michael’s wedding, I had a legendary time, got some sun, and now I’m back, tired as ever. Don’t go to Miami thinking you’ll be getting any rest.
My friend Sarah came to visit me a couple of weekends ago. I hadn’t seen her in 7 years, so I was pretty keen to see what kind of person she’d become after all this time. Luckily for me, she was still the same amazing person I had known all those years back, and we had an great time that weekend.
That same weekend Greg and I broke our apartment in with a ridiculous party dubbed The Frank The Tank Freedom Festival, most likely our final homage to Old School. We consumed 1 keg, 3 30-packs of Miller Lite, assorted six-packs and 2 gallons of jungle juice in a 4 hour time period. The cops got called, someone disassembled our stove, and somehow I made it through without blacking out. It was estimated that around 100 people were in and out of our place during the party.
Thanks to TMQ, I have become aware of a website that is making me froth at the mouth. It’s called Football Outsiders and it’s run by a bunch of cool guys that resemble myself and my football buddies, with one notable difference:
