… then 47 must be a mouthful. Pictures from the January party on up. Now, while I’d like to take credit for these gems, all the kudos belong to Heather. Along with Meghan and Erin (who scored Pizza Mart for the drunk and hungry masses at 3am), Heather was the MVP of the night. Keep in mind, these pictures are the only way I get to know what went on that night, seeing as how I’m usually obliterated by midnight.
For those of you who weren’t there, the party was amazing. Best one we’ve thrown. Which is fitting, since it was likely the last one before I move out in March. Thanks to everyone who made it out. We couldn’t have kicked the keg and consumed every concievable beverage in our apt with you.
I was watching the State of the Union address last night and was struck with an incredible idea. Obviously, political apathy among today’s youth is a problem. How can we get Johnny to vote when he can’t understand the issues because he can’t stand these dry, partisan speeches?
The solution is simple: Pop-Up State of the Union! As the camera pans the crowd, not only are we shown the intense level of hate in Tom Daschle’s face, we are also given a helpful thought bubble:
“Fucking Bush, I’m going to take those permanent tax cuts and stuff them up his ass! What?!? Who the hell is that clapping to Bush’s speech on this side of the house?!? Guards, seize him!”
Or we can see what Ted Kennedy might be thinking behind those glazed, red eyes:
“When will this be over…. god I need a drink. When did D.C. get so damn cold? I might as well be freezing my ass off in Chappaquidick….. I need one of those IV bags on a pole with wheels you can push around…. just fill it up with Bourbon…. zzzzzzzzzzzzz……
As you can see, the possibilities are endless. The youth of America has hope yet.
My friend Sunil has started sharing his thoughts on the movies he watches. He recently watched Swimming With Sharks, Ali, and About Schmidt. Curiously, he only reviewed Schmidt. I feel Swimming With Sharks deserves a review.
Swimming With Sharks – (** out of 5) – I absolutely love this movie. It follows a year in the life of a young, idealistic mid-westerner (Frank Whaley) as he pursues his dream to work in the movie business. He gets a job as an assistant to a tyrannical studio executive (Kevin Spacey) who proceeds to make his life a living hell. The movie is the blackest of comedies and the ending left me speechless. Certainly not an uplifting film, but one very much worth seeing.
Pictures from the second half of my vacation. After leaving Austin, I spent time camping in East Texas, partying in New Orleans, and hanging out in Atlanta. After coming back to D.C., I rested for 2 days and then flew down to Florida with my dad, step-mom, and sister Annie. We spent 4 days in Miami and 3 days in Key West. Let me tell you something, every time I’m freezing in my car waiting for the damn thing to warm up, I think of Key West. Plus it’s only 90 miles from Cuba, so I could always just swim over and hang with mis relativos.
Ha! For those of you who thought I just drove my car up to Rockville and slept in it for 2 weeks, I now have proof of my trip. These pictures are from Nashville, Austin, San Antonio and points in between. They are definitely a subset of all the pictures that I’ve got. Enjoy!
I’m posting this from my new laptop that I received from my new job. It’s a new year, and I’m finally back (really) from three weeks of road tripping and sunning down in Florida. It’s a rough adjustment, but I’m handling it ok.
I’ll try my damnest to get pictures up from my road trip and Florida. Things are a little hectic right now. My room looks like it’s been hit by a tornado, and I’ve got a bunch of old bills to pay. Fun fun.
Plus. I got picked up by a hooker in Miami. But that story will have to wait.
